  • This I Believe....

    I believe in perfect vacations.

Perfect vacations include going some place enjoyable with fun activties. I mean the type of vacation where nothing would be changed even if something went wrong. It’s the kind of trip that is priceless even if it costs three months savings.  I had this type of vacation this past Labor Day and it was well needed.

I went on this trip with a group of friends that were new to me. My boyfriend, Joel, introduced me to them, which was good because I had just moved to the city and didn’t know anyone. We went to Charleston, SC. I love where we stayed on the Isle of Palms It is a small, quaint island that had little shops near the beach and lots of places to sit and watch the sunset while eating dinner or just having a drink. The hotel we stayed at was three doors down from the bar where our favorite band was playing.  We spent days at the beach and nights at the bar listening to Will Hoge play his blues and rock & roll music. There was nothing that made me happier than that vacation.

On this trip I had nothing to worry about. There were no work schedules or curfews. It was whatever we wanted, when we wanted. We sat outside watching the tide rise and fall and relax to the refreshing sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Joel and I took a little “us” time and went browsing through the shops outside the hotel. We looked at toys and t-shirts, laughed at all the funny sayings, and played with the hermit crabs that made homes in mini football helmets. Visiting historic downtown Charleston was so cool. The elaborate old houses and the market were like nothing I had seen before. The nights were the best though. Will Hoge was the highlight of the entire trip. His music is mesmerizing. It’s so inspiring to watch someone who has reached his dream. I got to meet him for the first time and to no surprise he was just as down to earth and cool as his music is. As we rode home, we reminisced about the funny things that happened and how the trip could be said to be a success. It was fun and relaxing.

That vacation was probably the best one I’ve ever had. It was filled with all my favorite things. I shopped, played on the beach and in the ocean, saw amazing houses that I could only wish to someday own, and saw an icon play my favorite songs live. Now whenever I have a bad day I stop to remember the sunset or the first ring of the guitar and realize life isn’t always bad. I take a breath and keep going. I believe everyone should have that experience. Everyone should have that one vacation filled with their favorite things that can change their mood just by thinking about it.

  • If going to church makes you a christian....

Does going to the garage make you a car??

I saw a bumper sticker on the car in front of me when I was leaving school. It really made me stop and think...

How many times have you heard of someone getting mad at someone else because they didn't go to church. It happened to my boyfriend like 2 or 3 sunday's ago. He stayed out late and didn't want to get up early and go to church, so his mom got pissed. I came over later that night and she was still mad. I mean come on, it's just church. Not that I'm saying church is a bad thing or not important, but you most certainly do not have to go to church to be a christian.

In my opinion church is kind of like motivation and assistance to christian living. It reminds you of what you should be doing to be on God's path. I am not saying that those who do not go to church every sunday, including myself, do not need help staying on God's path, but we just choose not to take it. I know that sounds bad...but what I mean is believing that Christ died for our sins and was resurrected is what it means to be a christian. You believe and you try to be a better person. It's not about you're attendance record at church. Sometimes churches can be more hypocritical than an actual person, but that is a whole different story.

My point is....if you believe in God and you know in your heart that you are trying to be a christlike person, then you are a christian and church does not make the christian, the christian makes the christian.

Did that make sense? And with my trying to make sense I hope I did not offend anyone??

  • There should be a new law....

So at my work the schedule is made from saturday to saturday. But it comes out like thursday or friday before the sunday on the new schedule. Meaning if you want to make plans for a weekend you have to plan to saturday or hope that you don't have to work on sunday. How disrespect is that?!

I think there should be a law that states you either have to make the schedules where you plan whole weekends at a time, not half weekends, or you must put the schedule out at least by the tuesday before the weekend the new schedule starts so that the employees can make plans for a weekend and not have to worry about their plans being torn apart because of their employers disrespectful way of scheduling.

For example, I had to go to a dr. appointment back home, a state away, and I left on a thursday morning. I did not know till that night whether I was leaving saturday or sunday, because I did not know if I had to work sunday.

The bottom line is: Late schedules is very disrespectful to hardworking employees.

    What is L.O.V.E??

I know everyone asks this...what really is love?

Is love where it feels like you've been in the relationship longer than you really have? Or you finally have someone that you feel comfortable with? With makeup or without makeup; Dressed up or bumming it; Good days or bad days. Is love where you can see a future with the person? When you both make plans and if anyone heard the plans then they would call you both insane? Or how about those plans that you made, they are perfectly thought out all the way down to how you're going to get the money to live and they terrify you, i'm talking scared you shitless to where you just can't feel like they are real? And then you make other plans, the "dream" plans? Is love where you both imgaine having 4 houses and never going anywhere without them? Is love being afraid to say forever for fear of it not being forever?

Maybe I'm just crazy. Maybe we both are crazy. Maybe Love is crazy.

Does love equal fate. Being in the right place at the right time to meet the right person...that one person that you can tell anything to. That you get along with just perfectly. You never fight, but you both agree that when you do fight, it will be like effing world war 3.

What if you never met the person, but you can't imagine being without them. You looke at pictures and never want to stop. No matter how much they annoy you, the second you get away from them you miss the crap out of them. But the thing that annoys you is what most girls would kill for, someone who is so inlove with every part of their body, they want to hear everything the girl wants to say, and can't stand to be away from them for 2 sec.

Is love supposed to even make sense?

  • Silent Films...

In my english class today we finished Modern Times, a Charlie Chaplin film, and it was surprisingly really good.

Imagine trying to have a conversation without talking. You have to use massive movements and facial expressions to get your point across. Its quite intriguing. You follow the movie really well and it is in some ways funnier than a normal movie with sound. Paying attention is really important tho.

But now, think about how many times we incorporate the soundless communication into everyday life. If you're across the room and you want to say something to someone, you don't yell...you make a gesture. Its cool how the old ways are still being used, just mixed with what we do today.

    Idk...it was just a thought.
